[Dipper doesn't respond, which doesn't for a moment mean he didn't get the message. He sees it. He sees what Bill is implying, and it's terrifying. He doesn't want to admit that he might even possibly have a reason to be grateful to Bill Cipher. He doesn't want to know what Bill will ask for in return.

The fact that he got this text several minutes before he heard Mabel singing doesn't help ease his fears at all.]

[Dipper isn't most people, it's true, and he immediately translates the message, then glares at the mirror it had appeared on. Wow, that's pointless. He writes back with a marker, turning the text backwards to be thoughtful towards the mirror who's trying to communicate with him. Is it his mirror? Does his mirror use lipstick? Is it evil lipstick?]

[Wirt waits a little bit to bother Dipper after they all get back. Contacting people directly isn't...really his thing, but it's kind of about his Mirror and Wirt doesn't know what to make of it and Dipper might want to know about it anyway.

(Or maybe he's just overthinking all of this).]

Hey, this is Wirt. [Wirt, he knows that already.] Remember how your Mirror took my hat?
I found it under my mirror yesterday with a note stuck to it that says "Sorry" and nothing else.
It seems kind of uncharacteristic of him?
Anyway I know you hate my hat and could not care less about it but I thought you might want to know since he is your Mirror and all and it was kind of weird of him.

That is odd. They needed those objects to repair the core, and even if it turned out your hat wasn't needed, I don't really see my mirror as being all that apologetic. Or returning it.

[Also that the note wasn't encrypted, but it's possible that's a difference between the Mirror and the Real. Possible, but not likely.]

[This is going to be James' fifth Christmas season in Wonderland. His fifth. While it's sort of depressing, it does mean he's started to recognize patterns. The mansion typically does the same thing every year, on the same days every year, and rather than mope about how he shouldn't be so aware of this, instead he decides he'd rather make it fun for someone else.]

Dipper! You're trying to figure out the mysteries of the mansion, right?

[Dipper seems like a good bet, and the self-decorating mansion is...loud, but not actually dangerous, so he doesn't feel too badly about sending him chasing after it.]

None of those Wonderland fellows have turned up, but if I'm right something is going to happen tonight, around midnight or so. You may want to stay up and investigate.

[Okay? No. Not even a little. Everyone in his family died, no matter how temporarily, because of Dipper's curiosity.

He almost wants to pretend he didn't see it. Wirt's just going to tell him he told him so. But he makes himself. It's not like any of them stayed dead.]

Probably an owl with a maraca. Lumberjacks have a legend about this creature they call a Hide Behind but unfortunately, I couldn't find any evidence that there was any truth to it.

Which means that you're probably okay. I mean, if it does exist and goes around eating people that'd be at least sort of evidence.

[Dipper had, in fact, been sulking a little bit. He knew that this kind of influx couldn't possibly be sustainable, but there was a part of him that had hoped. He'd missed Wendy, and having a second him around had been pretty great. And now he can't find Soos anywhere and come to think of it, he hasn't seen Soos since before the giant influx.

And then he gets a text from Wendy.]

What really?! You're still here? How? Where are you? I can help get you oriented. But yeah you just take a room and then you can make it look however you want. We're on the third floor. I can come find you!

[They found a stack of cards written a long time ago. A month ago, they think. There's a post-it note stuck to the top, cheerfully proclaiming - "for Thanksgiving!"

They suppose they should hand them out. There's a...a twinge of something when they look at the topmost one. The one that should go to the bed beside them. The empty bed. Their SOUL starts to...ache.

They swallow. They swallow very, very hard. Screw their eyes shut, blink rapidly. Something's off. Something's different.

They feel...empty. Not empty like they have before.

Worse empty.

They have to make it go away. So they make it go away the only way they can think of. They hand the notes out. Maybe if they do that, it'll go away, and they can feel nothing again. Go back to feeling nothing at all.

So soon Dipper and Mabel will discover two cards slid beneath the door to their room. One is labeled "DIPPER" and the other "MABEL."

On the outside of Dipper's:]

[Dipper, though. Dipper's smart. He'll probably figure out who left the gift, knowing enough about Frisk and their calling cards and their current...situation to know what this is. It's goodbye.

There's a notebook, of course, in case he needs to write anything down. Accompanying it is a pair of gloves, hand-knitted in red yarn. On the back of each is stitched a purple heart.

Purple for perseverance.

If everything unspools the way it should, it won't matter. He won't remember them, and he won't know who left it.

[ Merry Christmas! Or late Christmas, because Dustin pretty much slept through it. After a rather jarringly loud fist-pounding knock on Dipper’s door, he’ll find a stocking left on the ground. If he's quick enough to answer he can probably recognize curls and a favourite hat turning the corner. The stocking is jammed full of things, including:

1. Air Heads (assorted flavours, but more watermelon because those are the best)
2. A small container with only banana flavoured runts
3. Gummy bears (sour and regular)
4. Bubble tape
5. Caramello
6. Nilla wafers
7. Chupa chups
8. Cow tales
9. Gummy cola

[ As much as Darcy might've liked to get everything out in time, Wonderland had a weird way of screwing up her plans. So, after a solid day's sleep, she starts making her rounds - dropping off gifts on each floor while using a little red wagon. In front of Dipper's door, he'll find a large basket that contains:

• 2 blankets
• 2 festive mugs
• a few different flavors of tea
• honey
• 2additional mugs of hot chocolate supplies with a note to just add hot milk
• chocolate dipped stirring spoons
• ridiculous fuzzy socks
• 2 tiny stuffed animals
• assorted candy
• and a few blue and white ornaments because she remembered seeing their network post

There's a note dangling from one of the handles that reads:

( Clementine stays in contact with Dipper as much as she can. The Event ends up being very busy for her, and toward the end of it- toward the end of it she's not able to get a response from him through the communication device. It's actually fucking terrifying. She can't even go out looking for him, because she has someone without an arm (Clementine chopped it off herself without hesitation)- she's trying to watch out for her.

It's why once the Event ends, she's running, heading to where she'd usually find Dipper during these times so she can check in on him.

So she can make sure he's okay. )

[He's not in the usual places she'd find him. Not in his room or Angel's Investigations or the library or any of the food places. But eventually, she'll probably remember that he's told her he likes going into the caves when he needs to think (aka sulk) and that, if he's conspicuously none of the places he'd normally be, there's a good chance she'll find him there.

And indeed, if she goes down there, she'll pretty soon see a light, and if she follows it, there's Dipper, sitting with a book in front of him, though it doesn't look like he's actually turned a page in a while. He's more staring in front of him, looking unhappy.
