Hey, you've reached Dipper! I'm not here right now, but leave a message and I'll get back to you soon!
...
But if this is paranormal-related? Hang up now, call back, let it ring exactly twice, then hang up again. Don't leave a message. I'll get back to you even sooner.

I could talk about ballet shoes or notebooks instead, if you would prefer. I have used those to kill too. Or is it more polite to pretend that never happened?

[Seems especially ridiculous in retrospect, since those were the best weapons to pick from during a time where they went up against a true heroine. Boy, it must REALLY sting to know the champion of the world's hopes and dreams went down to something as ridiculous as a bunch of kicks or feeble whacks from an ineffectual book. They mull over long enough for there to be an awkward pause between the last text and this one.]
Sorry. Just remembered something funny.
Anyway! Dipper Pines! I'm sure you're the sort of person who agrees that resourcefulness and ingenuity will get you farther in life than waiting for the ideal circumstances. Sometimes we just have to use what life hands to us.

Maybe next time, I'll hold out hope the fallen human gets named Dipper. I bet I'd have an easy time of it if I were you, huh?

I know you've got it in you.

Is that your weird idea of a compliment?

[Ha ha. Red SOULs like us aren't that different, deep down.
Red SOULs, like Chara used to be. The will to live, the resolve to change fate. It's a very dangerous thing.
But more than that. Dipper is human. And humanity, loathsome, contemptible thing that it is, does not change. Can commit just about any act, if they can latch onto a reason that appeals to their sense of moral superiority, their paranoia, their need to find an other and distance themselves from it.]

Makes sense. Why else would someone insist on killing even in a place like this, right? Why else would they talk so much about it?]
You got me. You really are a detective.
no subject
Well it's either that or you're messing with me again. I'm not gonna feel bad about "having it in me" to be homicidal. That's just dumb. I probably have it in me to be a star football player too. Doesn't mean it's gonna happen.
no subject
...Now why would they go and think something like that? What point would that serve? Very funny, those impulses. Better think of sunshine and pollen instead.]
You sound very sure of yourself. :)

[Something he's admitting partially because he doesn't want Chara to try to prove him wrong since... well. His berserk button isn't remotely hidden, though she can definitely defend herself. But also partially because, well, it's true.]
We all make choices. I like to think mine are mostly good [They're not] but they might not always be. So yeah, I guess maybe someday I'll choose to kill someone, hopefully for a good reason. That's the thing about free will. It means I could.
[Man, this is getting uncomfortably deep and honest.]
But I haven't killed anyone now and I don't want to so there's really no point dwelling on what I might do since there's no way to know until it happens.

[There are reasons. There are ends, and those ends may matter more than anything, but they don't erase the means. You count yourself among the sacrifices and select the most evil people you know, champion for the most worthy cause you can think of, but you are still a murderer, and your brother's heart floods with horror and refusal.
You try again. You still think you can be the arbiter of justice when nobody else can, and in your crusade to bring about an end, to send consequences crashing home, you obliterate every innocent bystander in the Underground. You kill people who try to believe in you, who defend everyone's hopes and dreams, who make a last-ditch effort to stop the end of the world. You don't care. You'll crush that happy ending so utterly that the only future left is to escape this pointless world or sink into an empty void for eternity.
Neither reason was a good one.]
That's what makes it being a choice so awful. At some point, you discover exactly what it is that you consider more important than the life of another creature. At some point, you place an indelible stain on your SOUL. You gain apathy, you gain the momentum that lets you do it again and again.
That's what makes the power to SAVE so interesting, don't you think?
no subject
So why'd you kill Alex? If you could have just undone it with a SAVE?
no subject
Why not make a joke? Your favourite refrain. You called out for help...
* But nobody came.
Or play up to the expectations that you find killing fun, admirable, noble. Be the demon. Easiest job in the world. They are the feeling of numbers increasing. They did it for LOVE.]
So that he - and every other human in this pointless world - would know exactly what I am.
Worked, did it not? He has not made any more heroic attempts at demonslaying. He is afraid.
no subject
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
no subject
He doesn't understand. Nobody understands - You're the only one who understands me. You're the only one who's any fun to play with anymore. He hits up against the obvious contradiction of "there are no reasons that really justify killing" and "I have killed anyway," and rolls his eyes and looks away.]
Know what else is stupid?
He was bigger than me. Heavier. His hands were at my throat. Covering my mouth. Don't want to scream, right? Don't want any uncomfortable noises. His weight pressed me down. I felt his body heat as he smothered me. I could not get up. I could not move. I could not breathe. His grip grew tighter and tighter.
Humans can do such stupid things with their hands. When you're smaller, when you're weaker. All you can do is smile and be still. Try to distance yourself. Wait for it to be over. Good children don't fight back.
But. Dipper. I am not a good child. So I reached for my SAVE, and this time, I ran him through.
Aren't you just rolling your eyes, Dipper? Isn't that a bunch of cringey, edgy garbage? Pretty hilarious, huh?
