Hey, you've reached Dipper! I'm not here right now, but leave a message and I'll get back to you soon!

...

But if this is paranormal-related? Hang up now, call back, let it ring exactly twice, then hang up again. Don't leave a message. I'll get back to you even sooner.

[Oh. They see. He thinks they enjoy it. That they say that because they find taking a life glorious. That they feel they are admirable for their actions, and so would find others admirable for doing likewise.

Makes sense. Why else would someone insist on killing even in a place like this, right? Why else would they talk so much about it?]

You got me. You really are a detective.

[Funny, the impulses that can intrude on a person. He acts like it's laughable, impossible, out of the question, and immediately Chara wants to bet that they could find a way. Goad him into killing them, or someone else. They've caused so much chaos already with words alone. Words alone would be all it takes, right?

...Now why would they go and think something like that? What point would that serve? Very funny, those impulses. Better think of sunshine and pollen instead.]

You sound very sure of yourself. :)

There are no good reasons.

[There are reasons. There are ends, and those ends may matter more than anything, but they don't erase the means. You count yourself among the sacrifices and select the most evil people you know, champion for the most worthy cause you can think of, but you are still a murderer, and your brother's heart floods with horror and refusal.

You try again. You still think you can be the arbiter of justice when nobody else can, and in your crusade to bring about an end, to send consequences crashing home, you obliterate every innocent bystander in the Underground. You kill people who try to believe in you, who defend everyone's hopes and dreams, who make a last-ditch effort to stop the end of the world. You don't care. You'll crush that happy ending so utterly that the only future left is to escape this pointless world or sink into an empty void for eternity.

Neither reason was a good one.]

That's what makes it being a choice so awful. At some point, you discover exactly what it is that you consider more important than the life of another creature. At some point, you place an indelible stain on your SOUL. You gain apathy, you gain the momentum that lets you do it again and again.

That's what makes the power to SAVE so interesting, don't you think?

[A question, and a thousand different ways to answer. Why kill monsters, when it was humanity they hated? Why be the fingers tightening around a plastic knife or a worn dagger as their mother or father stood in a child's way? Why not LOAD away everything that does not suit you, pretend your less likable actions never happened?

Why not make a joke? Your favourite refrain. You called out for help...

* But nobody came.

Or play up to the expectations that you find killing fun, admirable, noble. Be the demon. Easiest job in the world. They are the feeling of numbers increasing. They did it for LOVE.]

So that he - and every other human in this pointless world - would know exactly what I am.

Worked, did it not? He has not made any more heroic attempts at demonslaying. He is afraid.
fulllifeconsequences: (* A perverted sentimentality)

[personal profile] fulllifeconsequences 2016-03-15 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[A flat rejection, and it bounces right off of Chara. Expected. Very human. Predictable.

He doesn't understand. Nobody understands - You're the only one who understands me. You're the only one who's any fun to play with anymore. He hits up against the obvious contradiction of "there are no reasons that really justify killing" and "I have killed anyway," and rolls his eyes and looks away.]

Know what else is stupid?

He was bigger than me. Heavier. His hands were at my throat. Covering my mouth. Don't want to scream, right? Don't want any uncomfortable noises. His weight pressed me down. I felt his body heat as he smothered me. I could not get up. I could not move. I could not breathe. His grip grew tighter and tighter.

Humans can do such stupid things with their hands. When you're smaller, when you're weaker. All you can do is smile and be still. Try to distance yourself. Wait for it to be over. Good children don't fight back.

But. Dipper. I am not a good child. So I reached for my SAVE, and this time, I ran him through.

Aren't you just rolling your eyes, Dipper? Isn't that a bunch of cringey, edgy garbage? Pretty hilarious, huh?
fulllifeconsequences: (Yeah you know)

[personal profile] fulllifeconsequences 2016-03-16 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
[A series of texts, and Chara just keeps smiling down at their phone as each arrives. A really interesting response, sincerely, but one that doesn't line up with the guidance they were given. "You didn't have to," Frisk told them, insisted that they should have stalled for time or done a little better at calling for help or done literally anything else. And of course that's the response they had, because what sort of guidance had the Underground given them?

But, hey, let's consider if that response meant they deserve some stabbing, too!]

You're a strange one, Dipper! Isn't it a dangerous thing to tell a killer that some murders are acceptable?

You ought to ask Frisk about the Underground sometime. Self-defense was never an excuse. We were judged for our sins all the same. Kill one. Kill a hundred. Kill on purpose, kill by accident. It's all the same. You won't deserve a happy ending. You have to wear the stain on your SOUL like a badge.
fulllifeconsequences: (When constantly alone)

[personal profile] fulllifeconsequences 2016-03-16 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Don't let me give you the wrong idea.

It was the safest, happiest place I ever knew.

[They don't know for sure what happened before the fall, but they sort of think Frisk would agree with them, too.]
fulllifeconsequences: (* It's a snow poff.)

[personal profile] fulllifeconsequences 2016-03-16 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. That's karma.

We all get what we deserve, do we not?
fulllifeconsequences: (Must be some kind of abstinence)

[personal profile] fulllifeconsequences 2016-03-17 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, you got me there. You aren't wrong.

You're kinda tortured yourself, huh?
fulllifeconsequences: (Where I could be all you would need)

[personal profile] fulllifeconsequences 2016-03-17 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. Not tortured. Most of the time. Unless I'm trying to kill you.

But you are a good guy.
fulllifeconsequences: (I know I'd disappoint somehow)

[personal profile] fulllifeconsequences 2016-03-17 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Insufferable. Not as great of a detective as you think you are. Your concept of morality and justification is clearly wildly incompatible with mine. You're about as smug as I'd expect someone our age to be. I won't even begin to promise last time was a fluke, because there is a very good chance that continued association with yours truly will eventually cost you a life.

But. You know. A good guy.

You're capable. I won't underestimate you again, Dipper Pines.
